Hello my name is Jim Burrows and I live in Scottsdale AZ. I was interested in installing an artificial turf putting green for golf practice in my back yard. Once I started doing some research online I quickly found how far out of my price range a professional putting and chipping green was. Discouraged, I found few cost affective alternatives that provided anything close to what I wanted to see installed in my backyard. I had almost given up hope when I stumbled upon National Greens "Do it Yourself" putting green program online.

Within days I had a preliminary design delivered to me that would work perfectly with my existing yard and landscape. I let National Greens construct the design of my putting green because A. Because they created the design, they were able to perfectly estimate and order the needed supplies and equipment at the lowest possible price to me. I was happy to heed their warning and it certainly paid off.

Once I decided on my turf types and infill materials the order was placed for my supplies. Within days, not weeks my supplies and equipment arrived. I was so excited I could hardly wait to start the project! From my talks with National Greens I knew this was most home owners first mistake of jumping in with both feet without looking first. I sure am glad I waited to unwrap all my turf and filling material because it would have sat uncovered for a few weeks while I perfected shaping and compacting my crushed granite base surface. If I learned one thing its take it one step at a time, and go slow to insure trueness of the putting green. Mistakes are much harder to remove than to avoid.

National greens provided me with extremely detailed instructions on how to construct my putting green to their own professional standards. The instructions were simply understood and broken into separate sections to keep my project on track. As well as providing detailed physical instructions National Greens was always available for free phone consultation any time I was unsure and wanted to ask for an experienced opinion. I contacted National Greens for consultation on three occasions through my project they always answered and had the immediately helpful answer I was looking for.

Working almost every weekend for two months I was finally able to construct my very own custom professional putting green. The process was very involved and labor intense, but I could not have imagined a better outcome. My friends are coming over constantly chipping and putting with me, so much so that it has now become a Saturday evening tradition in the neighborhood. I am so impressed with the performance of the synthetic putting green turf and its surrounding fringe/chipping turf that I have decided to soon replace my own dying natural lawn with artificial turf from the National Greens "Do it Yourself" program. I will however warn anyone interested in building this type of project that it takes considerable time and patience to do it right. Through my experience I learned, if you have the determination and desire you can make even the most difficult of installations fun to construct. Also, knowing I had the experienced support of National Greens as a partner on my project gave me the confidence to always know where I stood on my projects progress.

Overall I saved almost 70% of the cost of an installed professional green by doing the installation myself and getting the instructions, supplies, and equipment at wholesale cost from National Greens. I never would have been able to enjoy this wonderful golf environment with my friends and family if it weren't for the innovative and original "Do it Yourself" program from the National Greens company.
